Acciones en Samoa

From left to right:   Salia, Ioane, Penina, and Monica are the 4 students, from Saleaaumua in Upolu island, in the Tsunami-devastated area of Samoa, who receive their tuition paid for their secondary school years, as long as their school performance is good and they need it.
In the back, stands on the left the Village Council Chief, in the center the lady Principal of the school, and on the right Rotarian Marco Kappenberger.
MG 73372 of TRF of RI helps some of the best primary school graduates to go on through secondary school despite their families' lack of abitity to pay their school fees.
Half a century celebrations in Samoa and in Japan

The Independent nation of Samoa and the Rotary Club of Osaka-Yodogawa are both 50 years young, and celebrate with a unique project for education where most necessary !

Highlights leading to this so fruitful cooperation towards the improvement of education in the South Pacific through Rotary in Japan and in Samoa, both tsunami-struck countries.

It was a quarter of a century ago when, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo the Emperor of Japan had promising meetings with the King of Samoa, His Highness Malietoa Tanumafili II.
After Malietoa's return to Samoa, His Highness told me of their meeting, and was looking forward towards an era of constructive friendship starting between Japan and Samoa, the cradle of Polynesia, and the first small island nation in the South Pacific to gain independence, already 50 years ago, at the time when in Osaka the Chartering of the Rotary Club of Osaka-Yodogawa took place.
HH Malietoa Tanumafili II, PHF, had invited me to come, settle and live in Samoa so to contribute in the realization of his vision for the optimal development of health and education in Samoa.
This MG 73372 with TRF of RI makes possible part the very special relationship between the Rotary Club of Osaka-Yodogawa and Rotary in Samoa:  indeed a great and good example of this most unique and growing cooperation between Japan and Samoa.
Since the 80ties I proactively supported Malietoa's half a century long leading Samoa from independence to being the most respected, cleanest and most peaceful small island country in the South Pacific's so pristine environment.
Indeed, that historic fruitful meeting between the Emperor of Japan with the King of Samoa lives, and has now developed also into the ongoing Rotary projects by the Rotary Club of Osaka-Yodogawa for where the need is the greatest in Samoa.
May this unique friendship continue flourishing and last through the future as the students who benefit from it become exemplary citizens of Samoa and thus good world citizens !

Yes, together we're reaching within to embrace humanity !
